The Strike Out Hunger Tournament is a community-driven baseball event created to bring players, families, and supporters together for a greater purpose—helping fight hunger in Houston. Through friendly competition, team participation, and fundraising efforts, the tournament turns a love of the game into real impact for local children and families facing food insecurity. More than just a tournament, Strike Out Hunger is an opportunity to build teamwork, give back, and show young athletes how sports can be a powerful force for good in the community.

Bag Blitz is the creative kickoff to Strike Out Hunger Double Header Weekend. During this portion of the event, players decorate meal bags with uplifting messages, artwork, and thoughtful touches that bring encouragement to children receiving meals through Kids’ Meals. Whether completed together at a team gathering or sent home as a family service activity, Bag Blitz gives players the opportunity to make each meal feel personal while reinforcing the importance of compassion, creativity, and community care.

Pack the Plate is the collaborative service component where players, parents, and siblings come together to assemble complete meal packs for delivery. Hosted at a central location, participants rotate through packing stations to organize, prepare, and complete each meal efficiently. This bracket transforms teamwork into action, creating a meaningful, hands-on volunteer experience that allows families to serve side by side while directly supporting children facing food insecurity.

Knocking Hunger Out the Park is the final and most impactful phase of the weekend, where the team participates in an official Kids’ Meals delivery route to serve families directly in the community. This experience allows players to witness the real-life impact of their service and better understand how collective effort can meet tangible needs. By connecting volunteer work with direct community outreach, this bracket helps turn the values learned through sports into meaningful acts of service beyond the field.
